Engagement

Dimension began engaging in New Jersey when the Community Solar Energy Program (CSEP) was enacted in 2018. Dimension actively worked to shape the evolution of community solar in New Jersey and serves households across the state as one of the largest developers and owners of community solar assets. Our longstanding partnerships with deep-rooted New Jersey organizations include local community colleges, non-profits, affordable housing providers, and municipalities, and have been integral to the rise and success of community solar in the Garden State.

Implementation

Dimension’s first community solar project in the Garden State was electrified in 2023. Our New Jersey projects utilize space on warehouse roofs across the state, minimizing land impacts. At least 51% of project capacity goes to low-to-moderate income (LMI) households, delivering significant monthly and annual energy bill savings. Dimension's comprehensive workforce development programs in New Jersey set us apart. Following the sponsorship of several training cohorts in New Jersey in 2023, we have expanded our commitment as the Premier Solar Partner for Rowan College of South Jersey and Rowan University’s Green Jobs Academy. Our New Jersey community collaborations also provide STEM curricula to schools and after-school programs to encourage the next generation of clean energy talent and provide launch points for well-paying jobs in the solar industry and related trades.

"We don’t just want to train somebody for their first job, we want to put them on a career pathway. We really want the program to serve our students and benefit the economic development of the county."

“Real estate is a local business. Being a local partner means not only using local resources, but leaving the community better than you found it, including workforce training, giving back, and delivering on projects that save the local community money. Dimension’s done that.”
Drew Torbin
Founder and President, Black Bear Energy
"Community solar training is a great opportunity because I think it will be the future – everywhere will have community solar. So it’s a great way to get a job.”
Alexander Isaih
Solar One Workforce Training Student
“The partnership between Dimension and community action agencies like ours is extremely beneficial for our utility assistance program. Instead of just paying their utility bill and calling us 6 months later for help again, the long-term monthly discount with community solar can help people maintain a lower energy bill."
Abdul Jackson
Somerset Community Action Program
"Solar One came to our school and showed us how to do solar panels on ballast mounts, rail mounts on a pitched roof. It was just fun. I loved the training because it set a realistic expectation of what we’d see in the field and made me more prepared.”
Micah Charles
Solar One Workforce Training Student
