Dimension's success in California is due in large part to hands-on engagement with trusted community partners

Engagement

Historically, California’s clean energy transition left many residents of the Central Valley excluded. Despite an abundance of utility scale solar projects in the region, most of the energy is sent into the Los Angeles power grid or otherwise taken away from the Central Valley. Dimension’s community-first approach seeks to ensure the benefits of each project are localized, by working with trusted, community partners to bring affordable, clean energy to the local residents who need it most, and by sponsoring workforce development programs that create opportunities for quality jobs with each project.

Implementation

Dimension is on track to become the largest community solar operator in California's emerging community solar market in 2024 due in large part to our intentional community engagement strategy from day one. Dimension's first California community solar projects were completed in early 2024 and are already bringing meaningful energy bill savings to low-income subscribers in the Central Valley. Dimension is an active participant in the state's community solar policy conversations, working to ensure a sustainable long-term community solar market in the state and making affordable, equitable, and reliable clean energy available to all Californians.

"These projects are local. They're close to the communities and homes that they serve. They're a great pathway for workforce trainings and careers in green energy too. The time is right for community solar to become a big part of the clean energy market moving forward."
Ted Baker
President & CEO, Baker Electric
"Out of high school I was working in the fields, but there's really no future in that. So then when I heard about [Dimension’s workforce program], I was like, this will lead me to more future opportunities. Instead of being out in the field, I'd rather do this. I basically have a second chance in life."
Franklin Hernandez
Solar Workforce Training Graduate, Central Valley, CA
"Dimension Energy provides trainees with unique opportunities that pave the way for successful careers in the solar industry, offering experiences and skills they wouldn't have had access to otherwise."
Eric Cortez
Director, GRID Alternatives, Central Valley, CA
"There are many reasons that households can’t qualify for rooftop solar. Community solar offers them an opportunity to still be a part of the state's goal of reducing our carbon emissions."
Mina Jimenez
Proteus, Inc., Central Valley, CA
“An expanded community solar program would be incredibly beneficial to the Central Valley and the whole state in general. The want is there, the interest is there. It would be great to see us expand this across the state and to other communities like ours.”
Melynda Metheney
Community Organizer, West Goshen, CA
"I took this training not just for myself. It's for my family. I have a sick son, and I'm doing everything in my power just to take care of him and stay afloat. It's very important for me to provide for my family. I'm proud because I learned a trade, and I stayed dedicated."
Tyree Cyrus
Solar Workforce Training Graduate, Central Valley, CA
"Baker Electric has really enjoyed working with Dimension Energy on this project and the previous projects we've done with them on their California portfolio. In my eyes, Dimension is a world-class company, and it's exciting to grow with them."
Chad Bonney

"Being able to lower customers’ bills with our programs, and on top of that offer the discount from community solar is huge. I’ve seen customers save $40 to $60 a month. That’s enough to make a big dent in hard-working families’ financial burdens."
Jose Landeros
Director, Proteus, Inc., Central Valley, CA
“Every time we needed help, Dimension was there. It didn't matter what time we called, we would always get a response right away. That's important when you're in the field - if you can’t resolve the issue right then, it can be hard to get that connection again with the residents.”
Lucy Hernandez
Community Organizer and Promotora, West Goshen, CA
